About BlackburnTechno

BlackburnTechno was formed by the senior members of the GEIP Sensor Processing engineering team, after the division was internationally relocated in a corporate reorganization. Although the business unit was relocated, the core engineering team remains intact in Ottawa. All the members of BT have extensive (20+ years) experience in hardware, firmware, and software engineering applied to commercial and Mil/Aero embedded computing systems. The group's 100+ years of collective experience covers all aspects of board and system level product development, with particular specialization in data conversion (ADC/DAC) and digital signal processing (DSP), sometimes referred to as sensor processing. We are also well connected with third parties who add video compression and analog RF expertise to our internal capabilities.

Starting from customer requirements, we have designed and manufactured state of the art data acquisition and DSP products for a wide variety of commercial and military OEMs and prime contractors in the US, and internationally. These products have been deployed in diverse applications including military sonar, software defined radio, test and measurement, electronic countermeasures and medical imaging.

BlackburnTechno is now able to offer you their expertise in the following areas:

  • Complete board level design and development of data conversion and DSP products.
  • Driver and application code for Windows, Linux and VxWorks.
  • Custom FPGA cores for Digital Signal Processing.
  • System integration and test.

Certifications

BlackburnTechno is committed to support the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP). This allows BT to offer services and products to a wider base of customers. Currently BlackburnTechno Inc. is fully registered under the Controlled Goods Program of Canada. The engineers who make up BT are sensor processing specialists. Our expertise lies in connecting sensors to computers, and processing the raw sensor data to extract signals of interest. This functionality is critical to the operation of radar, sonar, telecommunications, imaging, and test and measurement systems. Each of the members of BT brings over 10 years of experience interfacing the digital processing capabilities of high per- formance computing systems with the analog signals produced by antennae, hydrophones, accelerometers, etc. Our portfolio of past work includes products produced by Interactive Circuits and Systems, Radstone Em- bedded Computing, and General Electric Intelligent Platforms. Our designs ensure synchronous sampling on every channel, and robust bu?ering against data loss, regardless of operating system latency. And by using in- dustry standard form factors such as PMC, XMC and VPX, our products are widely compatible with Commercial O?-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment made by third party vendors.
